Directors & Officers Insurance for Community Action Agencies
Community Action Agencies (CCAs) are non-profit organizations whose principal goal is to assist the more than 34.5 million people who live in poverty in the United States. They establish partnerships with community organizations and other service providers to develop a coordinated approach in assisting families in need.
Each CAA is accountable to a board of directors, which is made of members from the low-income community, public offices, and the private sector. Directors and officers, whether employees or volunteers, are held accountable for the CAA’s actions and are vulnerable to lawsuits in the event of wrongdoing, a breach in fiduciary responsibility, negligence, violations of federal and state laws, and other issues.
D&O Insurance Steps In
Directors and officers (D&O) insurance is designed to step in to protect the board and its members against allegations of wrongdoing. The policy covers legal fees, settlement, and some damages.
At Care Providers Insurance Services, we understand the important and often complex work Community Action Agencies undertake and the management liability exposures that they and their directors and officers face in providing their services. We offer D&O insurance specifically for non-profits to:
- Protect personal assets of individual directors and officers
- Reimburse the organization for costs incurred when the organization indemnifies directors and officers in a claim
- Provide protection for the organization itself when named as a defendant in a claim
Our staff will review the various policy options available with you to determine what is best for your insureds.
